So when do you let go of anger,
And forgive the past?
Because at this point you're too late to make it count.
You chose to be a coward,
And take jabs at open wounds,
Instead of trying to make amends.
If you could only see the love that was there,
In spite of what you've said.
If you could only see the pride that was shared,
But you were thoughtless instead.
Even after the casket closed,
And it was too late for you to make this right,
Your words to me rang hollow,
And you still hadn't seen the light.
It's not about your ego.
It's not about your pride.
It's about letting go of the hatred,
That tears you up inside.
It's about relieving the pain,
That's gripping both your hearts.
But you're so myopic to this,
That you left it torn apart.
So when you tell me that you're sorry,
I don't believe you are.
Those words so insincere in a time of grief,
Is just a brand new scar.
I've learned so much since I've been broken,
More than I could ever let you know,
I have learned that time is precious,
So pain is sometimes best let go.
When I found myself feeling lonely,
I also found what mattered most.
But if you choose to carry hatred,
You'll soon be carrying a ghost.
